MATISSE NETWORKS NAMED ONE OF TOP 10 START-UPS TO WATCH
BY NETWORK WORLD
Mountain View , CA – April 26, 2005 – Matisse Networks, innovator of optical burst switching for metro optical networks, today announced the company has been named one of the “10 Start-Ups to Watch” by Network World, one of the networking industry’s premier publications.
Matisse Networks brings the benefits of packet technology to optical networks with the world’s first optical burst switch. This new class of switching technology delivers a connectionless packet architecture where optical wavelengths are dynamically switched to different destinations. By fundamentally rethinking traditional circuit-based optical architectures, Matisse will deliver new levels of simplicity, efficiency and reliability for next-generation metro optical networks.
“It’s very gratifying to have such an authoritative acknowledgement of the potential of our company and our technology,” said Sam Mathan, CEO of Matisse Networks. “We anticipate optical burst switching will be as ‘disruptive’ to the industry as previous migrations from circuit to packet technologies – such as when T1 circuit networks were supplanted by Frame Relay and ATM.”
